ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- After three days of searching, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said crews have found a missing Town of Paris man dead less than a mile from his home.

Richard Knight, 64, was found in a field about half a mile from his Butler Road residence.

Local agencies began looking for him Wednesday night when he didn't come home from a day of hunting.

Sheriff Rob Maciol said more than 170 volunteers aided in the search on Friday alone, and applauded the work of all agencies to find Richard Knight.

"In a time of need, as always, everyone came together, did a phenomenal job. These guys here opened up their home to everyone so that we had a place to have a command post,” said Maciol.

The sheriff said Knight's death does not appear suspicious at this time.
