SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- SU sports memorabilia is helping fight cancer.

The 7th annual Syracuse University Charity Sports Auction was held last night during the men's basketball game at the Carrier Dome.

The auction was held in the back court area before and during the game. More than 400 items, including sports memorabilia, restaurant gift certificates, and electronics were up for bid. The items ranged in value from $25 to $2,000.

The Syracuse University Sport Management Club organizes the event each year. This year all of the proceeds will benefit the Upstate Cancer Center.

SU Sport Management Club Advisor Kate Veley said, “Every year we rotate to a different charity, we've worked with the boys and girls club, and the Golisano Children's Hospital, and Ronald McDonald and the SPCA. There is a committee of students who choose the charity every year, so as a group those hundred students decide who they are going to let the event benefit."

The club hopes to raise more than $20,000 for the hospital.
