SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Some members of the State Assembly heard from just one witness as they staged a hearing in Syracuse on how Albany can help cities facing tough economic times.

That testimony came from the mayor of Syracuse, who says she is more optimistic now that there may be help on the way in dealing with major budget issues.

“There's been a real frustration among my colleagues about Albany's failure to address these issues. But, now, all of a sudden, we're hopeful because of, in large part, the success the Governor and the legislature had last year. To look at them and say, all right, here are solutions. Before that, we felt like, why even go to Albany asking for solutions, because it ended up an act of frustration,” Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner said

Miner's wish list contains items that are not new. Mandate relief and reform of everything from pensions to Medicaid. Miner says she's been assured the Governor is listening to city leaders' requests.
