ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- An inmate at the Oneida County Jail faces charges for an assault on the man accused of shooting and killing a Sheriff's Deputy.
Authorities said Alonzo Thomas Junior, 32, assaulted Christian Patterson, 41, while they were in the same unit at the jail on Thursday.
Patterson is currently awaiting trial on murder charges for the shooting last June. He's accused of killing Deputy Kurt Wyman following a stand-off in June.
Following Thursday's assault, Patterson was taken to Faxton Saint Luke's Hospital for stitches.
Thomas is charged with second-degree assault. This is the second assault on a high-profile inmate at the Oneida County Jail in the last couple of days.
On Wednesday, David Trebilcock was attacked by another inmate and cut on the face. Trebilcock is accused of killing his girlfriend's six-year-old daughter in Sherrill last summer.
He also received stitches at the hospital. Officials said Trebilcock plans to press charges in the assault.
