Marland Brooks, 39, is accused of assaulting a corrections officer.

The Sheriff’s Department said Brooks assaulted the officer two weeks ago, injuring the officer's hand and shoulder.

Brooks was in jail awaiting trial on charges including murder, robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon.
