CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- Three new acquisitions will make Five Star Bank the largest bank in Horseheads and the second-largest across Chemung County.

Five Star Bank has agreed to purchase three HSBC branches from First Niagara Bank, which purchased nearly 200 HSBC branches across Upstate New York and Connecticut.

If approved by regulators, Five Star will take over the HSBC locations on Lake Street in Elmira, Prescott Avenue in Elmira Heights and South Main Street in Horseheads.

The deal is expected to close by the end of the third quarter this year.
