ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Onondaga County firefighters met with state representatives Saturday to address the issues that they face on both a local and state level.
The Fireman’s Association of the State of New York held a legislative breakfast in East Syracuse. Topics ranged from legislation FASNY would like to see passed this year to the status of the Sheriff's Department's Air One helicopter, which now runs on donations from the community.
Warren Darby, Onondaga County Undersheriff said, “We're looking to keep the foundation active and fundraising so we can keep that airship available for all public safety. Not just EMS, but for police work especially. About 90 plus percent of it is police work that we do with it. And then we fight fires with it and we do fire command from the air so the incident commander knows where the hotspots are, etc."
