Central New York couple killed in Florida crash

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. -- Neighbors remember a Central New York couple who was killed in a three car crash in Florida.

Just before 11 a.m. Sunday on State Route 54 in Zephyrhills, Florida, Highway patrol officials say, 78- year-old Charles Anken 77-year-old Georgianna Anken of Holland Patent died after another vehicle swerved to avoid a stopped car and hit their car head-on.

Two other people in their car, 75-year-old Wayne Laribee and 70-year-old Elizabeth Laribee of Remsen, are said to be in critical condition.

Neighbors of the Ankens say, both couples had homes in Florida and would spend their winters there. They also described Charles Anken a caring man who would visit those who were sick.

A Florida man was also killed in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
