CAYUGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Headquarters Detachment of the 102nd Military Police Company in Auburn is getting a new commander.

It was announced Tuesday that First Lieutenant Joseph Valentino has been named the new commander of the headquarters based at the New York Army National Guard Readiness Center. Valentino is a veteran of the Iraq War and has won numerous awards including the Bronze Star.

Valentino will be taking over for Captain Karl Berg, who served as commander for the past three years.
