BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- The former Endicott Johnson Shoe Corporation Factory is being demolished.
The four story building in Johnson City, which is owned by Indian Valley Industries, is being torn down because it has become obsolete. The company, which manufactures and supplies products for environmental protection, says they can conduct business more efficiently without the building, as they only used two of the four floors.
The building was in use up until last week.
The factory was originally built in the late 1920s and Endicott Johnson was one of the largest footwear manufacturing companies for most of the 20th century.
Demolition of the building is expected to take three to four weeks.
