Syracuse and Georgetown play possible last game
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It's the kind of game that rivalries are known for, and the Syracuse-Georgetown matchup did not disappoint Wednesday night at the Carrier Dome! The game was decided in overtime, with the Orange coming out on top 64 to 61.
Some people were wondering if Wednesday night’s game was the last Big East game between the two rivals at the Dome.
Syracuse plans to join the ACC, and with the move the two teams will no longer be required to play each other. That could effectively end one of the biggest college basketball rivalries in the country.
Fans from both sides say regardless of what happens, they will continue to support their teams.
"You know, I'm kind of disappointed that they're going to the ACC but you know, it's not going to keep me from being an SU fan. I'm going to miss the rivalries in the Big East, but you know, I'll still be an SU fan, I mean…go SU!" said Kevin O'Connor, a Syracuse fan.
Syracuse could join the ACC as soon as next season, but only if the Big East waives a mandatory 27-month waiting period
