ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Police are investigating a deadly accident in St. Lawrence County. It happened along Route 37 in Oswegatchie around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said James McDonald, Jr., 58, was traveling east when he hit Philip Gladle, 76, who was walking along the side of the road. Gladle was pronounced dead at the scene and was brought to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center for an autopsy that will be performed today.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
