Friends and Neighbors Mourn the Loss of Young Fire Victims

A community in Rochester is in mourning following the death of four children in a house fire early Saturday morning.
A memorial now sits in front of the burned up home, where four young lives were lost.
Rochester firefighters responded to the home in the 80th block of Grape Street and found a rubbish fire. After extinguishing the fire, firefighters say they knocked on doors at the home looking to find anyone inside but no one answered.
After a repeated assessment of the home, crews found an adult woman and a toddler trapped on the first floor, both were rescued.
Crews were told four victims were on the second floor. It's what can be described as a valiant rescue effort with firefighters pushing through intense flames and heat to reach those trapped. But it was an unsuccessful attempt and firefighters say four young people ranging in ages under 10 to mid teens were found dead.
Those close to the victims are still in shock as they try to cope with the tragedy.
"They were an awesome pack. They were an awesome bunch of children and you would have never known that these children were suffering so, by the love that they had for one another," said Judy Curry, friend of the family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Neighbors say a candlelight vigil will also be held Sunday night to remember the victims.
