SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Jury selection got underway Monday morning in the trial of the Syracuse man accused of impregnating a 15-year-old, and then giving the child away.

Damion Davis has been charged with third degree rape. When he was arrested in 2009, he told police he gave his child to a group called the United Nation of Moors in Brooklyn. He was originally charged with child abandonment, but that charge was dropped because authorities couldn't find the child.

Davis is already serving up to four years for another crime. That conviction stemmed from an incident in 2010 where investigators say he held a woman against her will and used an ice pick to attack her.
