SYRACUSE, N.Y. - In his first game back from his most recent stint with parent club Anaheim, Kyle Palmieri scored the lone goal in a shootout on Wednesday to help the surging Crunch beat Adirondack 2-1 and move up in the playoff standings.
Syracuse has now recorded at least one point in 11 of its last 12 games and is tied with Manchester for seventh place in the Eastern Conference, three points ahead of Adirondack with eight games remaining. The Crunch play the Phantoms again Friday on the road.
Patrick Maroon scored Syracuse's regulation goal and Iiro Tarkki held the fort between the pipes with 34 saves.
This was the fourth consecutive game in which Syracuse went to a shootout. The Crunch have won three of them.
