HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Herkimer Police are adopting a new communications system that can keep residents up to date on the latest news and alerts. The department has signed up for the Nixle Community Information Service.

Through Nixle, police can send out texts and emails to all subscribers notifying them about traffic alerts, missing persons, and other relevant safety information. When you sign up, you can also decide which local agencies you want to receive information from and how you want to receive it.

For more information or to sign up, go to Nixle.com.
