CENTRAL SQUARE, N.Y. -- A quick response from several fire departments helped save a home from fire Thursday morning in Central Square.

The fire was called in just before 11:30 a.m. after someone driving on Fulton Avenue saw smoke coming from the back of the house, stopped and knocked on the door.
Firefighters say it started in the back porch area and had spread up the back wall and into the attic when they arrived.

"The back porch area is damaged, the kitchen in the back and the upstairs in the back sustained some damage, but the house is saved and structurally, it’s in good shape still. It's rebuildable," Central Square Fire Chief Scott House said.

The chief says it took less than 27 minutes from the original call to get the fire out.
