BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Crews battled a house fire in the Town of Dickinson Thursday. It started at 769 State Street shortly before 1 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, there were heavy flames and smoke coming from the front half of the building. No one was injured, but there is extensive damage to the house.
Five fire departments responded to the scene as well as a city of Binghamton tower for roof operations.
"Initially, we started a kick knockdown from the exterior, then we did an interior attack. At one point, we pulled them out and had to hit it with the aerial through the attic area with the aerial operation from the city. Now they are going back inside to put out any remaining hot spots," said Broome County Fire Coordinator Brett Chellis.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
