ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Several fire departments were called to Cox Farm in the Town of Onondaga Monday after a fire broke out inside.

Crews say when they arrived, the fire was growing and in a matter of minutes, the barn was fully involved.

Due to a shortage of hydrants in the area, tanker shuttles were established to use hydrants from a distance away to get water to the barn.

Officials say no one was injured and the majority of the livestock was removed from the barn.

Precautions did need to be taken, though, as temperatures crept into the 80s.

"As of this point, no injuries. Companies have taken a stand down as they're rehydrating given the extreme temperatures. They're cooling off, making sure we're taking care of our own and that's kind of where we are at at this point," said Onondaga County Emergency Manager Michael Huppermann.

Several animals are being evaluated at this point.

Firefighters are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
