SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- If you're near the Civic Center in downtown Syracuse this week, there's a powerful exhibit now on display. Vera House has set up its Clothesline Project Shirt Exhibit.
It's a collection of t-shirts designed by victims of sexual abuse and allies for those people. The shirts tell stories of pain and survival.
Officials said they hope the message reaches not only the general public, but other victims - women, men and children.
"We know that sexual abuse is one of the most under-reported crimes and so to have a display like this that gets people thinking about sexual abuse and talking about these issues we feel is a really important piece of breaking the silence and raising community awareness," said Loren Cunningham, Education Director at Vera House.
The display will be up through Friday at the Civic Center. Vera House also has people to talk to on hand and information you can pick up. They also have a 24 hr crisis and support line. The number is (315) 468-3260.
