FULTON, N.Y. -- Fulton Police say a maintenance man was behind a string of burglaries at a local apartment complex.

Several residents at Holly Garden Apartments in Fulton recently reported missing prescription medications. A police investigation revealed that a maintenance man who worked there, Shane Merritt, 29, may have used his master keys to enter various tenants' apartments while they were away. Once inside, he's believed to have stolen several bottles of prescription drugs.

Merritt has been charged in four separate investigations. The counts include burglary, petit larceny and criminal trespass.
