ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A former contestant on the popular NBC weight loss show "The Biggest Loser" addressed a crowd at Onondaga Community College.
Sherry Johnston lost almost 100 pounds during the competition. Now she is on the road, spreading the message about exercise and the importance of sleep.
While on the show, Johnston discovered she has sleep apnea and learned just how big of a role not sleeping can have on a person's waste line. She is sharing her story in hopes of inspiring others to get healthy.
"You don't know how to get out of this rut that you're in, you kind of lose hope and I think that's what ‘The Biggest Loser’ gave us, was a fresh start. And the ability to say, you know, I can do some things that I never thought I could, and I want to encourage other people that they can too. There is nothing any different from what we did that anyone else can do," Johnston said.
The seminar was put on by the Franciscan Companies.
