ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The stage is set for a rematch in a State Assembly race this year in northern and eastern Onondaga County. Two years ago, Democrat incumbent Al Stirpe lost to Republican challenger Don Miller by just over 900 votes.

Now Stirpe says he is ready to challenge Miller as the Republican seeks re-election to his second term. Stirpe says his successor won because of an angry mood among voters in 2010. This time around, he says local voters have seen little accomplished by Miller. Stirpe says those voters want results not rhetoric.

“They want someone who comes to every issue with an open mind. Willing to listen to all sides and all points of view. They don't want someone who comes to every meeting and addresses every issue already knowing the answers,” said Al Stirpe, (D) State Assembly candidate.

Miller says he still has the support of voters who want state spending and taxes lowered and fewer steps by Albany to interfere with business and job development.
