SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore attackman Derek Maltz's recent scoring spree has lifted the SU lacrosse team to consecutive wins for the first time since February, giving the Orange the offensive threat they've been searching for all season.
Maltz has recorded back-to-back career nights after scoring four goals last Saturday against Rutgers and six goals Tuesday night against Hobart.
The Virginia native, whose father Derek also played for Syracuse on the 1983 NCAA championship team, leads Syracuse with 26 goals this season after scoring only three goals as a freshman.
SU (7-5) resumes Big East play when it hosts Georgetown at the Carrier Dome Saturday at 3:00 pm.
