AG files tax fraud lawsuit against Sprint
ALBANY, N.Y. -- New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman files a tax fraud lawsuit against Sprint for more than $300 million.

This is the first tax suit filed under the state's False Claims Act.

Schneiderman said Sprint undercollected and underpaid $100 million in sales taxes in order to keep prices down.

Since 2002, New York State tax law has required mobile phone companies to collect and pay sales taxes on the full amount of their monthly access fees for calling plans.

The AG said since 2005, Sprint has underpaid the tax and submitted false records.
