ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The French Quarter is coming to downtown Elmira this summer. Organizers of the Twin Tiers Jazz Festival announced a new act for the seventh annual event Thursday.

This year, the festival will feature the New Orleans-based band Aurora Nealand and the Royal Roses. The group was recently nominated as Best Emerging Band in New Orleans.

Organizers hope this will increase tourism and bring a younger demographic to the festival.

"We have kids here and families and aunts and uncles and grandmothers and friends and that's really what this community's about. And showing the younger generation that we're going to keep this active and we're going to keep it open for them," said Jennifer Herrick, Elmira Downtown Development Executive Director.

The festival will take place in Wisner Park August 18th.
