JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- STAR Team Divers and dozens of other emergency responders continue to search for a missing boater on Lake Ontario.
On Saturday, a 25-foot boat capsized near Henderson Harbor sending two people overboard. Buck Stockman, 33, of Lowville was rescued after officials found him clinging to the side of the vessel.
Crews continue to look for David Tuttle, 45, who is the brother of Lewis County Emergency Services Coordinator Mark Tuttle. Two sheriffs boats are assisting with the water search, while dozens of volunteers and the Henderson Volunteer Fire Department are helping comb the shoreline.
Officials said the search is difficult due to conditions and they are not being assisted in the air, but they will continue as long as they possibly can.
Sgt. Joseph Cullen, of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said, “It's quite windy, the waves are rather large, some areas are worse than others. We're kind of leaving that up to the personal on the boat. If the divers feel it's unsafe then we will call it off for today and regroup. "
Officials said if they do not locate Tuttle, they will evaluate the weather conditions Monday and possibly continue the search. Family and friends of Tuttle said they are thankful for all of the crews working diligently in these tough conditions.
