SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Just when it seemed like the Syracuse men's lacrosse team might need an upset at No. 5 Notre Dame in its regular-season finale to make the playoffs, the Big East announced Sunday morning the conference tournament field has already been set and the Orange is in.
Syracuse earned the No. 3 seed in the four-team field by way of a goal differential tiebreaker with St. John's and Georgetown that will not be affected by the final week of regular-season play. The tournament, hosted by Villanova, will feature the Orange vs. the host and No. 2 Wildcats and No. 1 Notre Dame vs. No. 4 St. John's in the semifinals Thursday, May 3. The championship game is Saturday, May 5, with the winner earning an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament.
Syracuse's regular-season finale at Notre Dame is Saturday starting at 5 p.m. ESPNU will provide the telecast.
