NEW YORK -- State Police are cracking down on drivers using their cell phones this week. It's part of their Operation Hang Up campaign. The first Operation Hang Up, which was held over Thanksgiving last year, resulted in more than 800 tickets.
Governor Cuomo signed a tougher measure into law in July. The law makes texting while driving a primary offense, and using a handheld device is now worth three points on your license.
