SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Alan Milair - the man behind that mysterious hand of Monster Movie Matinee host Dr. E. Nick Witty - passed away over the weekend at the age of 81.
He was a Syracuse broadcasting legend.
Born in West Virginia, Milair first came to Cortland for a job at radio station WKRT. Then it was on to a three decade career at WSYR radio and Channel 3 as a personality and news and weather announcer.
Milair created and played the Dr. Witty role for 16 years.
A memorial will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church in DeWitt.
