SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Le Moyne softball team used a late defensive misplay to beat UMass-Lowell 5-3 on Wednesday in the Northeast-10 quarterfinals.
With the scored tied 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth Kelcie Cashel hit a two-out shallow fly ball that dropped between three River Hawks fielders and allowed two runs to score. UMass-Lowell got the tying runs on base in the top of the seventh but Le Moyne starting pitcher Sarah Harrison escaped the jam for a complete-game victory.
Le Moyne now heads to top-seeded Southern Connecticut State for the double-elimination final four starting Friday.
