SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Le Moyne College in Syracuse has received a $7 million gift to help launch its new school of business. Le Moyne alum Michael Madden made the donation.
The Madden School of Business will be comprised of three centers of excellence: Entrepreneur¬ship, Innovation and Creativity; Global Business; and Leadership and Business Ethics. It will be located in a fully renovated and reconfigured Mitchell Hall.
The donation was announced Thursday night at the 26th annual Accounting and Business Administration Alumni Dinner.
Madden, who has previously served on Le Moyne's Board of Trustees, says it is important to teach the lesson of giving back.
"Le Moyne College was the foundation for my particular career and I never forgot that. And I don't want to ever forget it. And this is an opportunity for me to give something back that is permanent and which hopefully exceeds anything I as an individual could do," Madden said.
The donation will also include money for fellowships and scholarships for students who attend the business school.
Right now, there are about 600 undergraduates in the program.
