Man indicted for raping Syracuse woman
CENTRAL NEW YORK -- An Oswego County man has been indicted on a number of charges after authorities say he raped a woman and impersonated a detective.
Arthur Groff, 38, of Hastings, was arrested in February.
Investigators say he responded to an ad in a Syracuse paper and made the woman who placed the ad take her clothes off. He then allegedly told the woman he was an undercover officer and displayed a badge before handcuffing and raping her.
A grand jury has now indicted Groff on a number of charges, including first degree rape, criminal sexual act, sex abuse and unlawful imprisonment.
