AUBURN, N.Y. -- April 28th is Worker's Memorial Day and across Central New York and the Southern Tier Saturday, working men and women gathered to remember those who died on the job.
At Hoopes Park in Auburn, a small group gathered at a plaque dedicated to fallen workers. Community members held a moment of silence, then read the names of people who have passed away on the job.
While organizers say there haven't been any work-related deaths locally in recent history, it's still important to recognize the victim's of these type of tragedies.
“We have to remember our brothers and sisters nationwide, not just locally. And we have to come together to recognize this," said David Arnold, President of Cayuga County Labor Council.
Events were also held in Syracuse and Binghamton this weekend as part of Worker's Memorial Day.
