Man accused of hitting police car during chase
VAN BUREN, N.Y. -- A Monroe County man is accused of hitting a State Police car during a chase that started in Seneca County and continued through much of Central New York.
Troopers say Jesse Corson, 26, tried to flee from a traffic stop on the Thruway in the town of Tyre around 9:00 Saturday night, heading east. When troopers tried to slow his vehicle in Onondaga County, they say Corson rammed the rear of a police car, causing it to spin out of control and roll over off the highway in the town of Van Buren.
The trooper in the car that was hit was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.
Corson was eventually stopped by a tire deflation device and taken into custody. He faces a number of charges, including second-degree assault, unlawfully fleeing a police officer and reckless endangerment. Corson was arraigned and sent to the Onondaga County Jail on $100,000 bail.
