CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- A head-on crash in Horseheads killed one person while injuring six others.

Deputies in Chemung County say a minivan and a compact car crashed into each other around 9 a.m. Sunday. It happened near the intersection of Route 13 and Old Ithaca Road.

The man inside the compact vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene.

All six people in the minivan, including four children, were taken to the hospital. Their identities and conditions have not yet been released.

Route 13 was closed several hours following the crash.
