CENTRAL NEW YORK -- The Six Nations are inviting everyone to join in the excitement and tradition surrounding a new lacrosse movie opening next week.

"Crooked Arrows" tells the story of a native lacrosse team that gets back to its roots while moving ahead to the state championship game. The movie includes cast and crew from the Six Nations in Central New York.

"Crooked Arrows" highlights the origins of lacrosse as being given to the Iroquois by the Creator and explores modern life on the reservation in a fun, family-friendly way.

"That's really what this movie is about is combining two worlds: contemporary American culture with Native American culture and heritage and where those two combine and how they can work together," said Neal Powless, “Crooked Arrows” co-producer.

"Crooked Arrows" premieres next Wednesday, May 9th, at the Crouse Hinds Theatre at the Oncenter in Syracuse, with a release in area malls on May 18th.
