SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A fight between a husband and wife lands one in the hospital and the other in police custody.

Syracuse police said a 48-year-old man was stabbed in the chest by his wife Wednesday afternoon at a home on Sunset Avenue.

The victim was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He is now in serious but stable condition.

His wife was taken into custody and is expected to be charged with second-degree assault.

Police have not yet identified the victim or the suspect.
