ORISKANY, N.Y. -- Wednesday marked the first day county and state workforce officials set up shop to help workers at the Orion bus plant in Oriskany. They're helping workers prepare for possible layoffs following last week's announcement that production will end there within the year.

Representatives will be stationed in the county's STOP DWI offices down the street from the Orion plant three times a week.

People can get help with steps like getting resumes in order and learning more about resources available.

Officials say even for the plant's longtime workers, re-entering the job market is an achievable goal.

"They might need help because they haven't applied for a job in decades, but it's important that they learn how to incorporate and identify the skills and experience they have and how it applies to jobs today," said Alice Savino, executive director of the Workforce Investment Board of Herkimer, Madison and Oneida Counties.

Workforce representatives will be available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
