BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A Binghamton University senior is hoping to bring the City of Binghamton to your television screen.

Jay Arora has started a local film production company named ARP Films. Currently, the production company is working on a sitcom set in Binghamton.

The plot is based on the experiences of college students and will be filmed at the Twin Rivers Commons Housing Complex downtown.

Arora is trying to bring in some Bollywood actors from India to work with the students and community members currently involved. He says he hopes the sitcom and his production company will jump start the film and TV production industry in Binghamton.

Arora said, "Whenever people hear 'film,' they think about LA, NYC, and I say why not Binghamton? Binghamton has a lot of hidden talent just waiting to be discovered."

Arora plans to air the sitcom as a web series and then submit it to several festivals in the hopes of gaining national attention.

The cast and crew will begin filming in June.
