Wainwright found guilty of second degree murder

DELAWARE COUNTY, N.Y. – There was a split verdict in Delaware County for a homicide that happened over the summer in the Village of Walton.

Lejuan Wainwright was found guilty of second degree manslaughter, but not guilty of a charge of first degree manslaughter.

A jury determined Wainwright stabbed Tyler Warner, 20, to death during an argument on Mead Street. At the time of the stabbing, Wainwright was a known fugitive from Florida who had been arrested by police on a warrant, but was released when Florida officials declined to have him extradited.

Wainwright will be sentenced at the end of the month.
