SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- When you hear the term 'flash mob,' you may think of people staging elaborate song and dance numbers in public. But a different kind of flash mob was out in Syracuse Saturday, with an unusual goal.

The first-ever "'Cuse Mob" was organized by SyracuseFirst. Participants converged on a local business, Craft Chemistry, to spend their money in the community. It's modeled after similar mobs held around the country.

Organizers said it's all about bringing attention to businesses that make a difference in the community.

Chris Fowler, SyracuseFirst Executive Director said, “Craft Chemistry epitomizes that with all of the work they do on public art. They do art classes for students in the neighborhood, they have open houses. They are a very giving business and we want to support them and let people know about how valuable they are."
