SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Southern-style cooking spiced up downtown Syracuse Saturday.

The 5th annual Crawfish Festival was held in Clinton Square. The event is put on by Operation Southern Comfort and Operation Northern Comfort. The groups help rebuild homes that were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina, and also those damaged by flooding locally this past fall.

Organizers said they're happy to see the support the Crawfish festival has picked up over the years, and they look forward to building on that.

Benton Schlater, Boilmaster said, “My personal goal is to get the Neville Brothers one year and get 20,000 people. We haven't hit that yet, but we've grown every year and that's made me very happy, very proud of the organization because a lot of people work really hard to make this happen."

So far, Operation Southern Comfort volunteers have made 39 trips to Louisiana and Mississippi.
