ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The undisclosed finances of the SRC Arena continue to overshadow budget talks for Onondaga Community College.
OCC leaders met with the County Legislature Monday to present their operating budget. The $77 million plan calls for the county to cover 12 percent of costs, or $9.5 million. But legislative leaders say before they can move forward, they want to see a breakdown of financial reports for the new SRC Arena, so that they can determine how much money the county should contribute.
To this point, those numbers have not been released despite legislative and media requests. However, both sides said Monday that the information will come out.
"They've been very good about complying with our requests for the information of their financials. I'm just waiting for that little bit of information, a little bit more about the arena and the budget will continue," said Judy Tassone, (R) Onondaga County Legislator.
"I think it's only natural that there are going to be questions because we haven't been in this business before. It's new for us, it's new for them and it's a good opportunity for us to increase understanding on all sides," said Onondaga Community College President Debbie Sydow.
Sydow says the college is currently in the process of putting all of that financial information together and it will be released once complete.
