BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- BAE Systems was awarded a new contract from Boeing. Under the deal, BAE will develop and make the Actuator Control Unit, or, ACU for Boeing's new KC-46A Tanker. The ACU controls the movement of the plane's aerial refueling boom.
BAE was already contracted by the company last year to build the tanker's Interior Control Panel. The KC-46A tanker will be a modified Boeing 767 capable of tanker, troop transport, and cargo missions.
The tanker's first flight is planned for 2014.
