SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Local activists protested major banks outside the Bank of America building in Clinton Square in Syracuse. They say they chose the spot for Wednesday's protest because it was the same day Bank of America was holding its shareholders meeting in North Carolina.

The main speaker at the protest was the Green Party Congressional Candidate Ursula Rozum, who is running against Ann Marie Buerkle and Daniel Maffei for New York's 24th district.

Rozum says the protestors are against large banks like Bank of America because they lead the nation in home foreclosures.

"We're telling people that Bank of America is not good for America and people can do things. We don't have to work with Bank of America. There's a number of community financial institutions, credit unions, community development credit unions that really want to do good things for our communities," said Rozum.

Rozum says she refuses to take money from big corporations, like the ones on Wall Street, because she believes those corporations shouldn't have a hand in the political system.
