SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Seniors at Syracuse University are getting ready for one chapter of their lives to close and another to open. On Sunday, approximately 5,600 students will receive their degrees, which includes students from SU and SUNY ESF.

The 158th commencement will take place Sunday in the Carrier Dome, where the graduates and their families will celebrate their hard work. Among the thousands of graduates, 12 seniors have been awarded as SU Scholars and three as ESF Scholars.

"It's a wonderful feeling because I think back on how much time and energy I've spent here in Syracuse, you know, academically and socially, and things like that, to get here," said Robert Solonick, Senior Undergraduate Scholar.

"The school really has become a home four years later. The students, the faculty, walking around the academic buildings, just I think in the four years here I did a good effort of being very in touch with the community as well," said Oriana Fuentes, Senior Undergraduate Scholar.

The commencement speaker this year will be Aaron Sorkin, an award-winning screenwriter, producer, playwright and a 1983 SU graduate.
