WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- North Country community members helped out our service men and women in style this weekend.
The inaugural USO Big Band Bash was held at the Elks Club in Watertown Saturday night, celebrating Armed forces day and benefiting local soldiers. Many guests dressed in vintage clothes from the 1940s and enjoyed entertainment from the Do-Good Swing band and the Liberty Bells.
Organizers said they're looking forward to continuing this event in the future after this year's success.
Karen Clark, USO Fort Drum Director said, “After tonight I absolutely think this is going to be an annual event. It has been so much fun and to support our armed forces during armed forces week in this way I think is incredible and we want to do it every year."
The Big Band Bash raised about six-thousand dollars for Fort Drum's USO, which supports thousands of soldiers and their families year-round.
