SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The morning commute may be a little longer for people who take 690 into the City of Syracuse. The ramp connecting 690 eastbound to Interstate 81 southbound is now closed while the Department of Transportation does bridge maintenance.

The closure will remain in effect for nearly a month, until June 8th.

In the meantime, traffic will be re-routed from 690 eastbound to the Midler Avenue exit., then from Midler to 690 Westbound and from 690 west to 81 southbound.

Detour signs will be posted, however, drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible because heavy delays are expected.
