Liquor store clerk threatened with knife
ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- An Oneida man is facing charges for allegedly grabbing a clerk by the throat during an attempted robbery at a local liquor store.
Oneida Police say Shawn Kinsella, 27, was in the Glenwood Plaza Liquor Mart Saturday afternoon when he approached the cashier, grabbed her by the neck, and held a steak knife to her throat demanding money from the cash register. The employee pulled away, and was able to use the counter to separate herself from Kinsella.
Police say he grabbed a bottle of liquor and threw that and the knife at her and then ran out of the store. The employee suffered a large scrape on the side of her neck. No one else was hurt.
Kinsella wound up calling police and turning himself in. He's now charged with attempted robbery and assault, among other things.
